SCIENTIFIC JURY / NEXT REVIEW CYCLE / APR 30, 2026
SECTION 00 / COORDINATES 35.6762° N, 139.6503° E AND 13.2850° S, 70.7389° W

A bridge between Tokyo and the Amazon.

Convened for the science, the capital, and the forest. Tokyo institutions and the living laboratory of Soqtapata, working as one standing system. Startups, scientists, academics, and corporate partners are invited to join.

SECTION 01 / THESIS

Nature technology is built in laboratories. It proves itself in the forest. We convene the two worlds that make that possible.

Tokyo provides the scientific foundation, the capital gateway, the institutional continuity, and a century of Japanese Peruvian relationship that makes collaboration in the Amazon legible on both sides.

Soqtapata provides the living field. 10,000 hectares under co management. A continuous 800 to 3,800 meter altitude gradient. Connection to a broader Saphi territorial system spanning millions of hectares. Indigenous community partnerships. A Scientific Jury that meets monthly.

The initiative exists to make the crossing between the two worlds operational. Teams admitted through the Scientific Jury enter a testing sprint in the Amazon. Integration with Saphi Intelligence follows. Validated cohorts move into the broader territorial system and are introduced to aligned capital through the PDIE network and partner institutions in Japan and beyond.

SECTION 02 / BRIDGE

Tokyo. The Amazon. One operating protocol.

100+
years of Japanese Peruvian community rooted across both countries

Tokyo is the convening side of the bridge — where science, capital, and long institutional memory between Japan and Peru come together to make work in the Amazon legible on both sides.

The living field. A continuous altitude gradient from 800 to 3,800 meters, compressing ecological zones that would otherwise require thousands of kilometers of horizontal travel. Indigenous community partnerships grounded in free, prior, and informed consent, connected to the broader Saphi territorial system for scale deployment of validated innovations.

The two sides are linked by Saphi Intelligence, the integration layer operated by Saphi International Holding Corp. Every admitted technology integrates with the platform. Every validated output becomes proving infrastructure for the next cohort.

SECTION 03 / THE SCIENCE

A method, an instrument, and a set of open questions.

The initiative is built on a specific scientific method and a standing measurement layer. The questions below are reviewed by the Scientific Jury.

METHODOLOGY
Synecoculture

Augmented ecosystem design pioneered by Sony CSL. Polycultures of 100+ species without tillage, fertilizer, or pesticide. Yields per area exceed monoculture while restoring soil and biodiversity.

Sensing protocol

A standing instrumentation layer across primary forest, agroforestry plots, and urban canopy. Acoustic, atmospheric, soil, and canopy data, sampled continuously and openly logged.

Data outputs

Time-series biodiversity indices, carbon and water flux, agroforestry productivity, and a public dashboard for cohort and jury review.

OPEN RESEARCH QUESTIONS
  1. Q.01Can augmented ecosystems hold biodiversity gains across decadal horizons in tropical conditions?
  2. Q.02What sensing density is required to make ecosystem state legible to capital allocators?
  3. Q.03How do cacao agroforestry systems compare to primary forest on carbon, water, and species richness?
  4. Q.04What does an urban canopy in Tokyo learn from a polyculture in Soqtapata, and the reverse?

Reviewed by the standing Scientific Jury. See Network.

SECTION 03 / PROTOCOL

From application to integration.

STEP 01

Apply

Rolling applications via the Hub portal or through PDIE and partner networks. Scoped to your track.

STEP 02

Jury review

Monthly review by the Scientific Jury. Decisions return within four weeks of each cycle.

STEP 03

Testing sprint

An 8 to 12 week sprint at Soqtapata. Logistics, community protocols, and baseline data supplied by Saphi.

STEP 04

Integration

Validated outputs integrate into Saphi Intelligence under clearly defined rights.

STEP 05

Scale and introduce

Deployment into the broader Saphi territorial system. Capital and corporate introductions through PDIE and Tokyo partners.

SECTION 04 / TERRITORIES

Three territories. One protocol.

The initiative is not a single site. It runs across primary forest, working agroforestry, and dense urban systems — each instrumented, each contractable, each measured against the same scientific spine.

▸ New territories are admitted by the jury. Propose your site through the Open Call.

SECTION 05 / INFRASTRUCTURE

The instruments are already in the ground.

This is not a proposal to start measuring. Sensors from named technology partners are already deployed across forest, farm, and city — feeding the Saphi Intelligence backbone in real time.

SECTION 07 / ENGAGE

Two ways in. One bridge.

The Open Call for Nature is always on. Active Cohorts are time-bound, problem-bound, and territory-bound — convened around a single question the network has decided to answer.

OPEN CALL FOR NATURE
ALWAYS ON

Rolling intake. Reviewed monthly.

For startups, innovators, academics, and corporate partners who fit the thesis but are not bound to a specific cohort window. Submissions are reviewed by the jury every cycle.

  • Open to all four audiences
  • Reviewed by the standing jury monthly
  • Matched to a territory at intake
  • Optional escalation into the next cohort
ACTIVE COHORTS
Thematic · Time-bound

One cohort. One question. One territory.

Each cohort is convened around a specific scientific or operational question. Limited seats. Closed deadline. Outcome published.

SECTION 09 / SUCCESS STORIES

Outcomes from the territory and the network.

Pilot results from Soqtapata and the agroforestry plots, alongside what alumni startups have shipped after a cohort.
